ANNOUNCEMENTS

Greetings Everyone,

I want to announce that two of our fellow classmates, Robert Gillette and Russell (Rookie) Johnston are going to be presented with a handsewn quilt from the Quilts of Valor organization.  If you were able to attend the 55+1 Class Reunion, there were a number of fellow classmates that were presented with quilts as well.  This is in recognition of their service to our country whether or not they served in a war.  I have to tell you that this was an extremly moving ceremony, not only for those who received their quilt, but for those in attendance.  I cannot ask you strongly enough to attend this event on behalf of our fellow classmates.  It is important and worthy.

The ceremony will take place on June 3, 2024 at 12 Noon and will be held in Pine Grove Park near the Veteran's Memorial statue.  It should last for thirty minutes or so and there will be a lunch gathering after it is complete.  For those wishing to attend a lunch afterwards, please make a reservation with Sue Henry Lohr by texting your interest to her cell number at (231)740-0610 or e-mail her at wmistamp@gmail.com.  Lunch will be self pay, and it should be fun to gather together once again.  (By the way, Rookie just moved back to Port Huron and was unable to make the reunion.  It will be fun to catch up with him and Bob as well.)

Lastly, you may want to check out the Quilts of Valor website at qovf.org.  You also may want to get involved with them.  They do so much good for our veterans and are staffed with all volunteers.  Anyone who served is elegible for a quilt and merely needs to contact the organization for receiving one.

Wishing you all the best.

R. Dale Adcock
